Aayojan School of Architecture, Jaipur,initiated thePhase II of Saturday Lecture SeriesfromJanuary 21st, 2017. The Saturday Lecture Series, organised by PG Program, is a platform created for students, to bring in rich experience and knowledge inputs from diverse domains.The Sessions in Phase II is an openseries for architecture professionals, in and around Jaipur. The first session, held on January 21st, 2017, was graced byMr.AnoopBartaria,Chairman & MD, Sincere Group and World Trade Park, Jaipur. The presentation on “Urban and Urbanscapes in Jaipur”described the concepts and approaches adopted in his works followed by the glimpses of executed and on-going projects. The Past Must Be Taken to Future was emphasized, with aperspective for aspirations of people and demands of society at present and for future. Wholesome city development is essential and Urban Planning must be taken as a catalyst to city growth. Disconnect between Planners, Designers and Architects, is not acceptable and every professional must carry a holistic approach for development. He calls himself as Nature Man and suggested to look into interface between human and nature. Thinking like a plant brings one close to principles of life in nature, was put forth, with a reference to another aspect suggesting the confluence of Art and Architecture with the corollary.
The second session on February 11th, 2017, was organized on the theme “Housing for All: case Dwarkapuri Project, Jaipur”.Mr.K.N.Mathur,retd. AdditionalChief Engineer, Rajasthan Housing Board, efficiently described the housing scenario in India post-independence and significance of government policies and decisions. The challenges associated to housing in our country are many folded, ranging from finance models and land economics to access of land and tenure of security, house planning, cost effective building technologies, to enumerate a few. Urban Poor, the most vulnerable segment of urban societies, need a defined and effective addressalsystem. Approaches adopted so far include Slum Rehabilitation with private developers using land as a resource, Credit linked Subsidy and PPP model to provide affordable housing. Further, the learning from DwarkapuriProject was shared to sensitize the students for importance of holistic approach in similar projects.
The third session in series on February 18th, 2017 was addressed by Mr. S.C. Mahagaonkar, on “Overview of Legal Aspects in Planning Mechanism”.Mr.Mahagaonkar is retired Chief Town Planner, JDA and presently associated with “Nitya Urbanscape”, Jaipur as a consultant. Starting from Land Acquisition Act 2013, implementation, amendment and objectives, the lecture further took over the trivial mechanism of Legal Regime in Country in reference to Planning and Development. Need and relevance of Planning Legislation was elaborated as a framework to guide the planning approaches for delivering effective and equitable development in public interest. The extensive session discussed all the major schemes and acts, formulated and implemented till date, as a comprehensive effort to update the participants.
The stimulating sessions are useful to orient the budding professionals to sensitive and not much discussed facts of situations. Development of holistic and thoughtful thinking is aimed for these sessions. For upcoming sessions,information will be available at Aayojan Website.
