The educational tour for third year B.Arch students is an important part of the curriculum. It gives an opportunity to the students to explore the vernacular, traditional and contemporary architecture prevalent in that area.
Scheduled from 7th – to 16th of october2016, students this year visited Chandigarh, Kullu and Manali. The aim was to study the architectural style of the two cities i.e. Chandigarh and Manali. Along with this, students also enjoyed various adventure sports such as river rafting and river crossing in Kullu as well as Manali. The tour was lead by Prof. N.S. Rathore, Prof. Archana S. Rathore, Prof. Ravi Meena from Aayojan jaipur and Mr. K.N.Singh and his team from the Mountaineering Institute of adventure sports, Rajasthan.
The modern architecture of Corbusier and traditional Architecture of Manali gave a glimpse of a different face of architecture to the students. Corbusier’s Chandigarh unfolds the bold and distinctive style of the architect while the Kathguni style of Manali presents with an economic, functional yet beautiful form of architecture amidst the Himalayas. Hence, the ten day tour every year becomes a splendid experience for the students giving them beautiful memories enroute.
