Aayojan School of Architecture, Jaipur, concluded the Phase I of Saturday Lecture Series on November 26th, 2016. The Saturday Lecture Series, framed for the students of PG Program in Urban Design as part of the Academic Curriculum. The Experts belonging to diverse but allied domains of Urban Design were invited as Guest Speaker to address the students. The Phase I and continuous Sessions in Phase II of the series are open for undergraduate students of Architecture and the Faculty Members at Aayojan Jaipur and other colleges of Architecture in and around Jaipur. During the four month long series, seven lecture sessions were organized based on the themes like Evolution and Development of Settlement, Environmental Acts in India, Urban Economics, Pollution Control, Resilient Development and Artificial Ground Water Recharge. Eminent Professionals from Government Departments, State and Central, Entrepreneurs and Academicians enlightened the students and audience constantly. The spell binding sessions were an eye opener and offered a deep understanding towards the mechanisms and processes involved in the Urban Development at the level of State as well as Centre, in India.


The brainstorming sessions in general aimed at the mechanical approaches adopted for urban development that has landed us intoalarming  situations. Guiding themes elaborated upon includes:

·         Visible Gaps in Planning Approaches

·         Legal Frameworks: ACTS & POLICIES to guide urban development scenario

·         Significance of Water Resource in evolution of settlement since ancient time

·         Desired approaches and efforts for strengthening Indian Urban Economy

·         Derived Techniques and Policies for managing excessive pollution of cities

·         Transforming concerns (at urban level) to Innovations for Future Generations

·         Alarming Situations to address due to depleting reserves of water, the essential life resource.


The overall impact of Sessions is worth acknowledging, the intention to sensitize and proliferate the knowledge base of the budding urban designers for macro to nano levels of various urban domains was well addressed and achieved.
