Affiliations
The Council of Architecture (COA) has been constituted by the Government of India under the provisions of the Architects Act, 1972, enacted by the Parliament of India, which came into force on 1st September, 1972. The Act provides for registration of Architects, standards of education, recognized qualifications and standards of practice to be complied with by the practicing architects. The Council of Architecture is charged with the responsibility to regulate the education and practice of profession throughout India besides maintaining the register of architects. For this purpose, the Government of India has framed Rules and Council of Architecture has framed Regulations as provided for in the Architects Act, with the approval of Government of India.
The beginning of formal technical education in India can be dated back to the mid-19th century. Major policy initiatives in the pre-independence period included the appointment of the Indian Universities Commission in 1902, issue of the Indian Education Policy Resolution in 1904, and the Governor General’s policy statement of 1913 stressing the importance of technical education, the establishment of IISc in Bangalore, Institute for Sugar, Textile & Leather Technology in Kanpur, N.C.E. in Bengal in 1905, and industrial schools in several provinces.
The AICTE Act was constituted to provide for the establishment of an All India Council for Technical Education with a view to proper planning and co-ordinated development of a technical education system throughout the country, the promotion of qualitative improvements of such education in relation to planned quantitative growth, and regulation & proper maintenance of norms and standards in the technical education system and for the matters connected therewith.
RTU was established in 2006 by the Government of Rajasthan to enhance the technical education in the state. To achieve academic excellence in Engineering by imparting in depth knowledge to the students,facilitating research activities and cater to the ever changing industrial demands, global and societal needs.

The University was established by the State Govt. of Rajasthan as State Funded University by an Act No. 6 of 2017 as Rajasthan ILD Skills University, Jaipur which was subsequently renamed as Vishvakarma Skills University, Jaipur on 10th August 2023 vide Act No. 16 of 2023. Accordingly the same was modified by the UGC in it’s list maintained for 2(f) of UGC Act 1956 vide Notification No. F9-23/2017 (CPP1/PU) dated 03 January, 2024.
