A visit to Sanganer:for documentation work in measured Drawing 11February:To provide an enriching experience to students,Second year students had planned a visit to Sanganer for Measured Drawing to get a better understanding of the subject for documentation purpose. As students of architecture of 21st century and hopefully architects of future,learning about modern advancements and building marvels is what we aspire of,but to learn from our past,admire our culture in our ventures is also a crucial aspect of architecture.The subject measured drawing provides a platform of documenting the architectural masterpieces to get a better understanding of preserving,maintaining and learning from traditional architecture.
In this regard,the indigenous destination where the students were supposed to meet was Jain Temple Sanganer,a place known for its well preserved architectural heritage.The students reached the destination at 9:30 am.The students were divided into 8 groups.They were allotted different monuments for studying the architecture of the place.The faculty provided the students a pleasant and exceptional experience which absorbed them into the culture of the place.All the students were ecstatic due to the hospitality of the caretakers and the owners of the historical monuments.Many students commented that they showed exceptional kindness and generosity. The collective teamwork of the groups was applaudable as some measured the site,some drafted the plan while some sketched the details of the building.The marvels of the place left everybody spellbound,be it the intrinsic details on the walls,the rock cut architecture or the beautiful use of red sandstone in some places.After spending a few hours on the site,we left at 4pm with hope in our eyes to get the same enriching experience on our next visit as well. With radiant,educational and entertaining experience,the visit was a resounding success.
